Newport News – Evelyn L. Wilkerson Rambeau

Evelyn L. Wilkerson Rambeau of Newport News, VA, retired Norfolk Public Schools home economics teacher, died October 13, 2009, at the age of 92. She was a native of Newnan, GA.
Mrs. Rambeau received a bachelor’s degree in 1941 from Georgia
State College now Savannah State College and a master’s degree in
1946 from Hampton VA Institute now Hampton University.
Post-graduate training was received at Hampton Institute, Norfolk VA
State College, Virginia State College, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and
State University.
She taught in the Georgia public school systems of Statesboro and Gainesville. In Norfolk, she was on the faculties of James Madison Junior High, Maury High, and Granby High, serving at the latter as a department chairman.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Ansley Rambeau of Newport News; son, Shelley Rambeau, Jr. of Maryland; and five siblings, ranging in ages from 86 to 101.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sat., October 24, 2009, at 11 AM, at Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church, 830-25th St., Newport News, VA.
