Exelda (Rita) Dora Sabine, 90, of Virginia Beach, a devoted Navy wife and mother of three, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Rita was born January 1, 1932 in Norwich, CT. Rita supported her husband, Captain Frederick Ralph Sabine, through his 40-year US Naval career while raising their three children, traveling to twenty-nine countries, and sharing her love of cooking with friends and family.  Rita will be missed by all and forgotten by none, especially her children: Stephen Jay Sabine (Margie), Ralph Gary Sabine (Susan), five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Keith Sabine. Rita was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Frederick Sabine, and beloved daughter, Deborah Bopp.

Church of the Ascension Catholic Church will provide a memorial mass celebrating both Rita and Fred on Tuesday, November 8th at 1:00 p.m.  Internment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern VA.
