Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. With thanksgiving to God for her life and faith, we remember Florence “Flo” Ball, who passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 80.
Flo was born on July 6, 1945, in Manayunk, Pennsylvania, to Anthony Olszewski and Katherine “Catherine” Olszewski (Lepak). On July 14, 1945, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. In 1958, she publicly confessed her faith through confirmation and remained steadfast in her walk with Christ throughout her life.
Flo lived a life marked by love, faith, dedication, and resilience. She devoted many years to her work as a house cleaner, bringing kindness, care, and a meticulous spirit into every home she served. Her strong work ethic was matched by her warm heart, joyful laughter, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She especially loved her angel and Elvis collections, which brought her comfort and happiness.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Flo faithfully served her church community through volunteering and lovingly caring for the altar. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering trust in God touched the lives of many.
In 1963, Flo was united in marriage to her first husband, Joseph Morris, with whom she shared the blessings of family and children. Joseph was called to his heavenly rest in 2006. On January 11, 2008, God blessed Flo again with a loving companion when she married Richard L. Ball, Sr., who remained faithfully by her side until her passing.
Flo was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Katherine Olszewski, her first husband, Joseph Morris, and daughter, and Kathleen Quigg (David). She is survived by her devoted husband of 18 years, Richard L. Ball, Sr.; her daughter, Caroline “Carrie” Webb (Martin); her stepson, Richard L. Ball, II; her brother, Francis Olszewski; her beloved grandchildren, Martin Jr., Jennifer, Roy, Christopher, and Bobby; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Alex, Cady, Rae, and Lennox. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and all who were blessed to know and love her.
God richly blessed Flo’s life through her family, church, work, and community. On May 12, 2026, the Lord called her home to rest in the arms of Jesus as she awaits the resurrection and the life everlasting promised to all believers.
“The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21
A memorial service celebrating Flo’s life and faith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Matt Doebler officiating. A light reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Though deeply missed, Flo’s loving spirit, enduring faith, and joyful heart will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.
