Frances Carol Erwin Hollingsworth, was ushered into Heaven on December 13, 2020. She was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina to her parents, Howard Hurley Erwin and Ethel Mae Erwin. She was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Edwards and her husband, Miles Edwards.
Carol never met a stranger. She had a contagious bright, beautiful smile that lit up any room she walked into. She had a joyous spirit and a wonderful humor. She sang all of her life and was known to burst into song no matter where she was at in the moment. She also had a deep abiding faith in Jesus and passed it along to her family and friends.
Carol was an Elementary School Teacher for 30 plus years. She attended East Carolina where she began her journey as a teacher.
She was a long time member of Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church and was a part of The United Methodist Women. She also was a long standing member of the choir and church drama group. She served and gave of her talents to The Junior Women’s Club, Eastern Star, and Smithfield Little Theater. She also devoted 42 years of service to Peninsula Community Theater. There she was awarded Board Member Emeritus. She enjoyed singing and acting on the stage and supporting the arts community in any way possible.
She is survived by her adopted twins, Lee Hollingsworth and Heather Sreves, her son-in-law, Michael Sreves and daughter-in-law, Barbara Hollingsworth. Also, two nephews, Douglas Edwards, Owen Edwards and his wife, Lisa Edwards, numerous cousins who are beloved and her only granddaughter, Victoria Hollingsworth.
A memorial service will be held at a later date due to Covid.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Peninsula Community Theater.
The Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News is handling the arrangements.
