With family by her side, Frances “Fran” Everleigh, 85, passed away on Friday, May 31st. Fran will always be remembered for her faith in the Lord, love for family, kind heart, courageous spirit and her passion for plants and anything that was blue and white!
Born in Robbinsville, NC, she was the daughter of Boyd and Oleta Crisp. She attended Western Carolina University, were she graduated with a degree in Education and met her future husband Bob. Fran served as an elementary school teacher for over 30 years and was the first elementary trained teacher to enter ESL (English as a Second Language) for Newport News Public Schools – teaching children from all over the world. She was an active member of Orcutt Baptist Church for 48 years and used her God given gifts in various capacities.
Fran is survived by her two loving daughters, Wendi Everleigh and Jeanne Breitbeil and her husband Steve; her two wonderful grandsons, Jake and Zach Breitbeil, whom she adored; sister, Louise Orr; brother, Mitch Crisp; sister, Tammy Orr; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob; her brother, Butch Crisp; her brother, Philip Jenkins; and her brother-in-law, Maurice Orr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 15th at 10:30 am, followed by a reception at Orcutt Baptist Church, 653 Baxter Lane, Newport News, VA 23602. A private burial will be held preceding the celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orcutt Baptist Church, or the Peninsula Rescue Mission, 3700 Huntington Ave., Newport News, VA 23607.
