Chesapeake, Virginia – Frances M. Moore, 88, passed away at home Nov. 10, 2010. Frances was born April 5, 1922 in Grandy, NC. She was the daughter of the late Gettis Harris and Ruth Mercer Harris, and her loving stepmother Myra S. Harris. She was the widow of Thomas H. Wilson who died in 1957 and Jarrell R. Moore 1969.
Frances was a lifelong Christian and a 30 year member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach where she loved her sister members of her Sunday School class taught by Dottie Foster. She was a current member of Clifton Park Center Baptist Church, Clifton Park, NY and had missed her church family there after returning to Virginia. She was retired from Albert M. Dickson, MD Family Practice, in Virginia Beach.
Frances is survived by her daughter Cecelia R. Hancock and husband John of Littleton, CO; her son G. Wayne Wilson and wife Donna of Chesapeake; sister Gloria H. Poyner and husband Louis of Water Lilly, NC. She is also survived by grandson Wesley Hancock and wife Maria of Seattle, WA; granddaughters Becky H. Reed and husband Elliot and Lara H. Center and husband Ken of Littleton, CO, Sara D. Dienemann and husband Dan of Bountiful, Utah; Katie E. Arnold and husband Ryan of Virginia Beach, 5 great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were sisters, Elma H. George, Ruby H. Pierce, Hazel H. Dale, and brother Gettis Harris, Jr.
The family is ever grateful for the care, comfort and love given to Frances by her aid and companion Linda Mitchell. The medical care given by Howard R. Feldman, M.D. and to the comfort given by Odyssey Hospice Care.
Memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 11am at the Haygood United Methodist Chapel 4713 Haygood Rd Virginia Beach by Pastor Kyle Wall of Atlantic Shores Baptist Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
