Portsmouth, VA  –  Frank Joseph Cassidy, born on July 13, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Portsmouth, VA, at the age of 80.

Frank dedicated his career to the New York City Transit Authority, where he worked diligently as a Maintainer Chassis. His commitment and hard work were evident throughout his years of service.  His faith and legacy will live on in the community, family and friends who know him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph Francis Cassidy, Sr. and Jean Favara Cassidy and a dearly loved son, Ryan Cassidy, deceased in 2022. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Jan Marie Popow Cassidy, brothers, John and Vinceny Cassidy, step-children, grandchildren, a great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and many friends.  Frank was loved greatly by all and he leaves us with many wonderful, warm memories.

Private family services will be held to honor Frank’s memory. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this difficult time.
