Frank Macek, 77, died on October 1, 2022. He passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in England on December 3, 1944, the son of Frank and Margaret.
Frank lived a long life of service. His family and friends fondly remember him as a man who was always happy to help others. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years. He completed several tours during the Vietnam War and worked seven years as an alcohol treatment specialist. Following his military retirement, he met his wife, Beverly. This December, Beverly and Frank would have celebrated their 36th blissful year of marriage. After his retirement, Frank also graduated from Norfolk State University and became a licensed clinical social worker. He worked in several positions during this career, where he counseled people through substance abuse issues. He also served for 15 years with the Norfolk Community Services Board, until 2013. In his community, Frank was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He entered the program in 1974 and spent the rest of his life guiding others through their own sobriety.
In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by sister, Mary Margaret Lachowicz; son and granddaughter, Frank and Jessica Kapturowski; and mother-in-law, Ruby Taylor. Surviving relatives include wife, Beverly Weich Macek; brother, Robert Paul Macek; daughters, Tammy (John) Pycior and Terri Culpepper; nephew, Jeff Lachowicz; granddaughter, Theresa Walker; great-niece, Alyssa Lachowicz and great-nephew, Zachary Lachowicz; and great-granddaughters Claire and Charlotte Walker.
