I would like to let the family know my heart and prayers go out to you on the loss of such a wonderful person. I was a student of Mr. Morton's at Norfolk Vo-tech for 2 years back in 1980 and 81 and I work with him through all his assignments in a little over a year and he let me do maintenance in the school repairing and adding electrical circuits in different areas of the school which he graded me on. He made it a big point and helped me get into the IBEW local 80 apprenticeship program where I started working for Austin Electric Co. a company he told me he had once worked for. After I graduated apprenticeship school he asked me to come back to his class and tell his new students about my experiences and how his class helped me to succeed in the union and the pay and benefits it was providing for me. I was already ahead of most of the students in my apprenticeship class because of the instruction Mr. Morton gave me in my junior and senior years of high school. I am proud to say I am in my 44th year with Austin Electric Co and now President and part owner and it would not have been possible with out the guidance and knowledge Mr. Morton gave me early in my life to get started in the electrical field. I will never forget what a wonderful person he was, how great a teacher he was and how much he helped he gave me understanding what I was about to get into and what it had done for him in his life. I was very lucky that he was my teacher at Norfolk Vocational Center and I will never forget him.
