Gayle Lea Brown passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024 after a three-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends in her home on Knotts Island, NC at the time of her passing.
Gayle was born in Norfolk, VA. She received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Maryland and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Old Dominion. Gayle dedicated her career to protecting children in her community as a social worker for the cities of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach and later as a consultant for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Gayle enjoyed arts and crafts in her free time. Her home on Knotts Island holds an array of her creations, from birdhouses and sculptures to stained glass and paintings. She loved to get out on the water, whether to fish or just take her dogs Butch and George for a ride on her boat.
Gayle is survived by her best friend and soulmate, Bill Fantin of Virginia Beach; her three children: Shawn Weekley of Abilene, TX, Shannon Morgan of Winchester, VA, and Kendall Woolard of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren: Caroline, Savannah Morgan, Holden, and Charlotte Woolard; and her sisters, Debbie Duty and Cathy Buzzy.
Gayle was supported through her fight by those mentioned above as well as a number of others that Gayle lovingly referred to as her “Warrior team,” to whom her surviving family will be forever grateful.
