LCDR George E. Plum, USN (Ret.)

March 2, 1935 - February 4, 2025

LCDR George E. Plum, USN (Ret.) of VA Beach died, after a short illness, on February 4, 2025 at age 89. The son of the late George A. and Rose A. Plum, he was born in Springfield, MO.

Subsequent to graduation from Southwest Missouri State, he served in the US Navy at home, abroad and at sea until retirement. He was president of USA Services in Norfolk until his second retirement. An avid woodworker, tinkerer and fixer of things, he enjoyed his later years among the Woodpeckers of Westminster-Canterbury in VA Beach.

He was well loved by his family and in the community. He is survived by his son Eric(Gonul Kaletunc) of Columbus, OH, daughter Lisa of VA Beach, grandson Baris Gencer(Stefanie), great grandson Logan of Tampa FL and his companion Sandra Dorsey of VA Beach. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Janet H. Plum.

I will miss my long time friend

George and I worked together back in the 90’s. When I moved from Va we were able to get together every year at the Paxton marine distributor show at the Pavilion and have lunch. He was a kind person and a wonderful friend who I will truly miss. My thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace my friend.

Mr.Plum was one of my favorite residents at Westminster! He always made me laugh and it was a privilege to cook for him. I can't belive he is gone. My heart goes to his loved ones.
