Born Saturday, November 16, 1929 in Denver, Colorado, Georgia L. Tung, 91, died, her ajuga and azaleas in full bloom, Monday, April 12, 2021 in Newport News, Virginia. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute (1953), Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing (1957), and University of Denver, B.S. in Nursing (1958). She served as an Air Force nurse in several duty stations, ending up as a Captain at Langley Air Force Base (1963-1965), where she met, married (1964), and raised a family with her husband, Yi Tung, a career electrical engineer at NASA, Langley. She later retired from serving as a school nurse in the Newport News public school system. For over 40 years, she faithfully attended Tabernacle Baptist Church (Newport News) and then First Baptist Church Newport News, until she was no longer physically able. She is predeceased by her husband, Yi Tung; and her brothers and sisters. Survivors include her son, Steven; her son, Brian and his wife, Waterlily, their sons, Daniel and Elijah, and their daughter, Shekinah; the many family members of her brothers and sisters; and very close friends like family.
