Norfolk-Georgiana Chambers Breyfogle, affectionately known to all as Honey, passed away peacefully, at 91, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, after a brief but aggressive battle with cancer. Honey was born on January 18, 1935, at home during a blizzard in Queens, New York, where the JFK airport control tower now stands. She loved to tell everyone that she was 10 days younger than Elvis. She grew up in the Richmond Hill neighborhood in Queens. In her young adult years, she worked as an accessory model for J.C. Penney. During the Vietnam War, she volunteered as a Gray Lady with the American Red Cross, and as a nurse at Oak Harbor Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island. She met the love of her life, Delane “Brey” Breyfogle, in 1962, on a trip to Virginia. After a brief courtship, they were married in May of 1963, and were married for 56 years, until his death in 2019.

She was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Norfolk for over 40+ years where she participated in numerous ministries – Circle 3, Seekers Sunday School Class, Food Pantry, SHARE program, Holiday Basket program, Operation Christmas Child, Prison Ministry, and the Wednesday Night Cooking Team. She is predeceased by her husband Brey, infant son Daniel Patrick Stack, parents Charlotte “Kiddie” and George Chambers, sister, Harriet “Dolly” Chambers, nephew, Anthony Zollo, and son-in-law, Thomas Coulbourne. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Lauren Debra Coulbourne, Kristi (Craig) Puryear; grandchildren Ryan (Jennifer) James, Ashleigh (Keith) Roots, John Hardee, Kelsey and Casey Puryear; great grandchildren Kylie (Alex) Chrvala, Isabella (Aviah) Clark, Zander James, Peyton (Amy) James, Trace Hardee, Layla James, John Roots, and Colton Hardee; siblings George (Jackie) Chambers, Eileen Fultz, and Sherrie (Al) Sazinger; and a host of friends and family whom she loved dearly. A memorial service for Honey will be held on Saturday, May 30, at 11am, at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, with a private burial at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with her husband, Brey, at a later date.
