Gladys Rose (Gallant) Davis, born November 18, 1932 in The Forks, Maine, died peacefully November 11, 2015 in Virginia Beach, VA. She is predeceased by her son Ronald George Davis. She was the loving wife of George Davis for 67 years, devoted mother to Cynthia Davis Garrett and her husband, Douglas (who was her favorite son-in-law), loving grandmother to Holly E. Garrett and Davis R. Garrett affectionately referred to as “my babies.”
Gladys was a long standing member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach. She had a full career with A&P, Be-Lo and 24 years as a civil servant with the Army and Navy commissary stores as a lead cashier, assistant manager and manager.
Gladys loved people and never knew a stranger. She was funny, quick witted and was the quenn of one liners. She was famous for her shrimp salad, fried crab cakes, pineapple cake and killer triple decker BLT’s. She was a diehard Washington Redskins fan and for her devotion many would consider her a saint.
The family would like to thank the staff at Virginia Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center for the love, care and support that she received. Their commitment to her care demonstrated that there really are angels among us. “We do not remember the days, we remember the moments.” She left a legacy of selfless love that can only make us smile with gratitude in having received it. She is now whole, perfect and at peace.
Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
“The heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.”
