Glenda Thomas McCammon, born on February 7, 1953, in Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, in Norfolk, VA, at the age of 73. Her life was a tapestry of compassion, adventure, and love that inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her.
From a young age, Glenda had an innate desire to care for others, leading her to a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse. Her gentle touch and kind heart left a profound impact on patients and colleagues alike, and she was deeply respected in the medical community.
Glenda’s passions extended beyond her professional life. She was an avid gardener and birdwatcher whose vibrant yard was a testament to her nurturing spirit. Her love for travel was evident in the many adventures she embarked upon, including memorable journeys to China and also to the British Isles with her beloved sister, Carol. In her younger years, she embraced the thrill of scuba diving, exploring the mesmerizing world beneath the waves.
A true lover of animals, Glenda shared her home and heart with her cherished cats, who brought her endless joy. Her compassion also extended to volunteering, particularly at the Audubon Aquarium in New Orleans, LA, where she spent time enriching the lives of both creatures and visitors.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Glenda passionately supported her favorite teams—Cubs, Ravens, and Orioles—celebrating their victories with unyielding enthusiasm. Her generous nature was a blessing to those around her, embodying kindness yet knowing when to stand firm.
Glenda was preceded in death by her loving parents, Hampton and Ida Thomas; her devoted husband, David McCammon; and her dear brothers, Neal, Glenn, and Kenny Thomas. She leaves behind her cherished sister, Carol Hagan; sister-in-law, Kathy Thomas; her best friend, Sharon Land; her beloved feline companion; and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, Glenda will be laid to rest privately at an ocean reef, where the ebb and flow of the tides will forever cradle her spirit. In honoring her remarkable life, we are reminded of the beauty in simplicity, the power of kindness, and the joy of a life well-lived.
