Growing up in Grafton Christian Church holds many memories for me. Many of those memories included a member of the Fox family, but most of the funny memories included Grayson. He just made me laugh...most of the time. I truly liked him. His smile, his bounce, his voice coming around the corner....it could be none other than Mr. Grayson Fox. I particularly remember a time in church when I decided to "get him back". He was an Elder that day, sitting up straight and proper behind the communion table. I was about 10 years old and sitting in the Congregation close to the front and just about directly in front of him. When Grayson's eyes caught mine on that Sunday morning, I quickly crossed my eyes. He looked away and then looked back at me. I crossed my eyes again and this time screwed up my face. I watched as the corners of his mouth turned up and I knew it was all he could do not to laugh out loud right up there in front of everyone. I kept my eye on him and each time his eyes came my direction, I would make a face. Soon it was all he could do NOT to look at me....it was a joke and he knew it. He never forgot that day and every time I saw him since, he reminded me of the morning I made him laugh in front of the congregation. He called me a scoundrel but he loved the memory as much as I. My mother Betty Rollins, use to race Grayson to the Red Cross building every 57 days to give blood. It was some kind of thing they had between them to see who could get there first. They were always teasing each other, boasting about how much blood they had given before the other. I can remember many times her saying that she had beat him this time or her disappointment if he had gotten there before her. They both donated gallons and gallons of blood and were considered Super Blood Doners by the Red Cross. I will miss Grayson Fox, he was a good soul. My prayers go out to his family. My heartfelt sympathy to Marcia, Debbie, Cathy, Carly, Gene, and Grayson III during this sad time. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend a lot of time with Grayson, but I enjoyed conversations with him and his quirky sense of humor. His memories will live on in his family and the people whose lives he touched through Church, baseball coaching, and work. Thinking of you, and wishing I could be there to say goodbye. Love, Margaret Patrick (his Step-Granddaughter)
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
