Harry Russell Seipel lived a full life and joined the church triumphant on November 26, 2017 in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born in Easton, PA in 1926. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Edith Herman and Harry C. Seipel, as well as his wife of 54 years, Martha Harrison Seipel. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Andrea Boyce, children Mark H. (Julie) of Virginia Beach and Scott H. (DeeAnn) of Avon Lake, OH as well as 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Harry served as a medic in the US Army in WW II from 1944-1946. Following his service, he graduated from Gettysburg College and made a career in the steel industry as an industrial engineer. Upon retirement from Weirton Steel Company in 1982, he remained in Steubenville, OH and enjoyed his time walking his dogs, swimming, kayaking, listening to his beloved jazz, and traveling with his wife, “Marty” around the country. Harry was very much involved with his church and was always involved in service to others, including giving a home to others in their time of hardship. Generosity was his strong suit.
Harry relocated to Virginia Beach a year after the death of his wife, “Marty”. A year and a half later he had the good fortune to meet and marry Andrea. The next 8 years were happily spent living on the Chesapeake Bay sharing his love for jazz with his “jazz soulmate”, Andrea. They rarely missed an opportunity to hear live jazz, be it in town, or on their annual jazz cruise.
A family man of honesty, integrity and love, Harry will be missed by all who knew him. A private family Celebration of Life is planned for the end of December. In lieu of owers, memorial donations may be made to Starkdale Presbyterian Church, 4600 Sunset Blvd, Wintersville, OH 4395
