Hazel Elizabeth Thomas of Newport News, VA passed peacefully in her home on Friday, October 18 after a long illness. Born in Arlington, VA on August 5, 1956 to parents, Beverly Faye Thomas and Haskell Moisson Thomas, Jr. She spent her younger years in Florence, SC., and for 35 years worked there and in the Hampton Roads area as a registered nurse, serving and helping those in need of healing. Her grandson, who survives her, was the light of her life from his birth.
She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Elizabeth Young; her grandson, Patrick Anthony Richardson Mosley; and his father, John Mosley, Jr., of the home.
She is also survived by her mother, Beverly Thomas Sims; and her sister, Beverly Folline (Folly) Thomas-Bower, both of Bakersville, CA; her brother, Haskell Moisson Thomas, III of the home; her maternal aunt, Chris Newman Camlin of Wilmington, NC; and her special lifelong friend, Mark West, whom she loved dearly, from Darlington, SC.
