Heather Elizabeth Dowdy (Wright) passed away unexpectedly in her home on January 7, 2024, in Norfolk, VA at the age of 46.
Heather is survived by her mother, Shirley Shuman of Port St Lucie, FL; partner, Bobbi Stockton of Norfolk, VA; children, Noah Dowdy, and Abigail Dowdy both of Farmville, VA; Sister Amber Shuman of Falls Church, VA; nephews Nate and Chris Jaramillo of Falls Church, VA as well as a host of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved Aunt Pauline Carter, grandmother Goldie Beaman, and Father George “Butch” Marvin Wright Sr.
Heather’s greatest joy in life was her children and her love for them was evident in every moment they shared together. Heather’s strength and unwavering love for her children will forever be remembered as her enduring legacy. Though she may no longer be physically present, her love and light will continue to guide and protect them throughout their lives.
Heather will be remembered by those close to her for her fierce spirit, resiliency and how deeply she loved. An inspiration to all, Heather faced life’s challenges with a smile on her face and determination in her heart. She embraced each day as an opportunity to make a positive impact, always radiating kindness and warmth to those who crossed her path. Her positive spirit and infectious laughter brightened even the darkest of days. Music (especially the Grateful Dead) played a large part in Heathers life, and she spent many weekends traveling to concerts and music festivals. Prior to her death, Heather was an active member of the LGBTQ+ community in Norfolk and was passionate about eliminating the stigma associated with mental health.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Heather on April 20, 2024, at 3pm at Irelands Four Provinces in Falls Church, VA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Heather’s life.
