Hilda Evon DeLaune, 88, passed away in Norfolk on Saturday, November 2, 2024.  Hilda was born in Rusk County, TX to the late Jerome and Annie Lee.  She is also predeceased by her loving husband, John Edward DeLaune as well as her siblings, Cetrue Linahan, Doris Taylor, Jerry Lee, Ruth Wheeler, Jo Dunham, Evelyn Purnell and Murel Peake.

Hilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and even a great-great grandmother.  She prioritized her life for her family, making sure their needs were taking care of.  Hilda and Johnny loved to camp at Indian Cove in Sandbridge. Hilda worked many jobs her life, but she loved being a nanny and helped raise and upbring many children throughout her life.  She often volunteered her services for not only her church family but many friends.  She was an active member of the Wesley Grace UMC in Norfolk.  In her spare time you would see her with her Red Hat’s at their luncheons.  She will be missed by all.

She is cherished in memory by her children, Tonya Gillespie, Jed DeLaune, Ashlynn (Paul) Weston; grandchildren, Jason Poe, Janette Young, Shannon (Franklin) Burns, Robert Weston, Brittany (David) Garvey, Annie Gillespie, Taylor (Caleb) Perrin; great grandchildren, Destiny (Eyan) Ross, Austin Perron, Dawson Perron, Dustin Brockman, Matthew Simpson, Jase Poe, Covey Costello, Johnny Poe, Payton Poe, Kyleigh Poe, Michael Garvey, Bailey Garvey, Davey Burns and Kaiden Burns and last but not least, her great-great grandchild, Lucas Ross; siblings, Avis Powers, Travis Lee and Larry Lee as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other significant friends and family.
