Irene Elizabeth Creekmore Taylor, 82, of Norfolk, VA passed away on June 9, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lottie Mae Creekmore of Kempsville, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie L. Taylor, and her son-in-law, Gary L. Tomlinson.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Tomlinson, and granddaughter, Rachel Tomlinson, of Virginia Beach, VA; step-daughters, Karen Spencer (Mike) of Morocco, and Sharon Culbertson (Billy) of Norfolk, VA; step-granddaughters, Kate Mouak (Nabil), and Anne Culbertson; three step-great-grandchildren; sister, Jo Ann Greene (Pete); nephews, Jeff Greene (Mia), and Joe Greene (Marie); niece, Suzanne Greene; three great-nephews and one great-great-niece; and her two best friends, Paula Moss and Sandy Arrington.

Irene graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1958. She was a homemaker who loved the outdoors. Camping, boating, fishing, crabbing, and the beach were some of her favorite things. She loved her animals with all her heart and volunteered with a wildlife rehabilitation group. She was always the life of the party. For the past 11 years, she lived with her step-daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Billy, who were wonderful caregivers as they walked with her through her Alzheimer’s journey.

The family will gather for a celebration of Irene’s life on July 9, 2022. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
