Irma Ortiz
Irma Ortiz Soto, 95, passed away on August 14, 2016. A native of Puerto Rico, she was a resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia since 2009.
During her career as a Professional Cosmetologist and International Traveling Consultant, she represented numerous cosmetic lines throughout the Caribbean and South and Central America. During that time, she also owned and operated the Royal Academy of Beauty Culture in Rio Piedras and several other beauty salons.
She was Assistant to the General Manager of Drug Fair in Condado in charge of the Cosmetics Department for 11 years. In 1980, she moved to California to operate three Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios. In 1987, she returned to Puerto Rico and assumed the position of Cosmetics Buyer and General Supervisor of the three Bellisima stores in the San Juan area and the six Cosmetic Departments of the Plaza Farmacia. In 1989, she was deducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame for the Asociacion de Representantes de Perfumeria y Cosmeticos de Puerto Rico.
She is survived by her two sons, Orlando and Lind Canino, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Irma lived life on her terms and was loyal and loving to her friends and family. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
