James Daniel Jacques, Sr.
Jim Jacques, 80 of Virginia Beach, VA went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his wife & sons after a long & valiant battle with multiple health concerns.
Born in Mt. Kisco, NY, he joined the US Navy at 17. Married his bride Madolyn Ann “Mikki” Perri in 1957 in southern California where they began their family and he a military career. After retiring from the Navy in 1976, they settled in Virginia Beach, VA. Jim went on to work as a government contractor for companies such as Bendix & Tracor, affording him to take his wife & family members to London & Greece. An electrical technician by trade, the travel allowed Jim to pursue his love of photography, even underwater in places like Guam. A hobby each of his three sons picked up to some degree.
As a result of hospital stays in the ’40’s, Jim had a liver transplant in 1998. Thus began a road of challenges he willingly undertook with zeal. Even prior to the transplant, Jim & Mikki became very involved in LifeNet, supporting organ and tissue donation and transplants here in the commonwealth. Whether manning booths at health fairs, making memorial quilts for those who lost their battles (even involving their grandchildren in such projects), or giving radio interviews, he eagerly supported the cause of organ and tissue donation. Jim would ask, are YOU a donor?
Jim was preceded into eternity by his father, Walter Jacques and mother, Virginia Jacques. He is survived by his wife, Mikki, sons, James “Danny” Jacques, Jr, and his wife, Ginger, Walter Joseph Jacques & Eugene Scott Jacques, sister Virginia “Bunny” Anderson, and grandchildren, Jeffery & Candace Jacques and Rick & Kim Evans of Oklahoma City and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 18, 9:30-11:30 AM at Vineyard Community Church, 4444 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach.
