James, known as Jim, was born March 1, 1929 in Canton, PA to Everitt & Mary Grantier Crandle. He joined the U.S. Navy in March of 1948. Jim served on the Aircraft Carrier, U.S.S. Sicily during the Korean War and continued to serve our country until August 1970. He retired with the rank of Master Chief.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 67 years, Janice Wills Crandle; brothers, Richard and Arthur Wayne; son-in-law Richard Dailey and granddaughter Stephanie Dailey Burkett. He is survived by his son, Gary Crandle (Teresa) who lovingly cared for Jim the last two years; daughter, Connie Dailey; grandchildren, Dan Crandle (Jeanette), Katie Cooper (Will), Matthew Dailey and seven great-grandchildren that he dearly loved.
Jim and Janice lived a well traveled life with many adventures. They are now reunited again.
The family will have a private service to place Jim’s cremated remains with his wife Janice at Albert G. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
