Jim is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gail and his three daughters, Marianne, Jenny and Kelly. He has three stepchildren, Tim Broms, Mary Beth Etherton and Michael Broms, and three grandchildren, Justin and Lauren Etherton and Blaine Broms, his sister Kathryn Davis and her husband Howard. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen.
Jim suffered a debilitating stroke 20 years ago but was able to spend his time volunteering for the Virginia Beach Police Department for several years. He and Gail moved to Gila Bend, Arizona where they managed an RV park for two years before moving on to Casa Grande and eventually back to Virginia Beach.
Jim was an avid reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast and also enjoyed writing articles for a community news flyer and for a publication in Arizona.
A celebration of his life will be scheduled for a later date.
