Mr. James Nathaniel Mitchell, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on
December 17,2024 at the age of eighty-five. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Ruffin, NC. He attended elementary school in Newport News and later played
as the starting quarterback at Huntington High School. He graduated from North Carolina A&T
University in Greensboro and also led that football team as the starting quarterback.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife (Sherian Christian Mitchell); son (James Nathaniel Mitchell III),
daughter-in-law (Shonica Chantel Mitchell); three grandchildren (Cruz, Cash and Kingsley Mitchell);
brother-in-law (Edward T. Christian); sister-in-law (Brenda Christian High),and a host of other relatives
(nieces, nephews and cousins).
Mr. Mitchell had acknowledged Jesus Christ as savior; he was a member of Calvary Chapel Newport
News.
