James Patrick Lane Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia, at the age of 79. Born on August 14, 1946, in Chester, Pennsylvania. He is now reunited in Heaven with
his daughter Jennifer. Jimmy lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his passions.

Jimmy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army as a Military Policeman in Germany. After his military service, Mr. Lane continued his law enforcement career in the Newport News Police Department. Jimmy later was the
owner of Williamsburg Limousines and Airport Taxis. Jimmy’s commitment to providing excellent service was well-known and appreciated by many in the community.

A man of varied interests, Jimmy was an avid fan of NASCAR and a devoted supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles. He found joy in the thrill of the race and the camaraderie of fellow fans, always cheering passionately for his favorite teams.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Lane Sr. and Anna A. Hopkins; his daughter, Jennifer L. Devorss; his sister, June DeShallo; and his brothers, John D. Lane Jr and Jerry Lane, as well as his son in law, Martin Devorss Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda L. Lane; his son, James P. Lane Jr.; his sister, Joyce Winters; and his cherished grandchildren, Sarah Devorss and Martin Devorss Jr.

The family thanks the dedicated doctors and nurses at Doctors Hospital Williamsburg, as well as Dr. Stephen Woodall for the kind and compassionate support they provided to Jimmy.

Friends and loved ones are invited to join the family in celebrating Jimmy’s life at a 2:00 memorial service on June 28, 2026, at Liberty Live Church I York River, 8201 Croaker Rd, Williamsburg. Graveside services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Live Church I York River.

Jimmy will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his zest for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
