Virginia Beach – Jamison Jim Pate, Jr. passed away quietly, Thursday, May 6, 2010, with his wife and children around him in his home, which was his wish.
He was born December 3, 1929 in Richmond, Virginia, the son of the late Nancy Sanders Pate and Jamison Lamar Pate, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Dyer Pate of Virginia Beach; daughters Suzanne Pate Jordan and husband Bill of Williamsburg, Virginia, Nanci Pate Wright and husband David of Buford, Georgia and Lisa Holland Pate and Barney Bray of Virginia Beach and Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Laura, Austin, Katie, John and Allyson; five great grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, Cody, MaKenna and Chase and one great, great grandchild Will.
Jim graduated from Randolph-Macon Academy in 1947 and Lynchburg College in 1952. He was employed by CIT Credit Corporation for more than 20 years. He began the second phase of his career with Virginia National Bank. He retired in 1992 from Nations Bank as it was being merged with Bank of America.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Steinhilber’s Restaurant between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. His family will greet his friends at that time.
In lieu of flowers, may we suggest a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society or the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.cremate.org.
