Jane Sprunt Preston, 82, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Jane was a two year resident of Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital in Norfolk. Born in Wilmington, NC, Jane had been a 45 year resident of Columbia, SC. Jane moved to VA Beach in 2009. The family would like to thank the staff of the Dogwood Unit at Lake Taylor for their loving and patient care. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John E. Preston; brother James D. Sprunt, Jacksonville, FL; son John E. Preston Jr, Palm Beach, FL; daughter Jane P. Greer, VA Beach, son-in-law Robert A. Greer, VA Beach; grandchildren John E. Preston III, William H. Preston, Emeline F. Greer, Lydia P. Greer and Anna A. Greer. A Memorial and Thanksgiving Service is planned for Friday, July 29, 1:00pm, at the Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, 1871 N. Great Neck Rd., VA Beach, with the Rev. Ed Martin officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital or to Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. My mother, Dorothy Sanford, my brother, Dick Sanford and I will dearly miss Jane. She became such a good friend to us all. We enjoyed her company on many occasions. She helped my mother adjust to living at Lake Taylor and for that we will always be forever grateful. Her memory will stay with us always. Our deepest sympathies go out to Jack and the entire family.
