Janet Lynn Nuckols (63) of Virginia Beach, VA went to her forever home on Friday January 26, 2024. She was born in Richmond, VA August 9, 1960 and was the daughter of the late Clyde Bagby Nuckols and Mary Poole Nuckols. She is survived by her siblings Clyde Wayne Nuckols (Lethia), Gerald Alan Nuckols, and Christy Nuckols Scott. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews, and cousins. Last but certainly not least, Janet leaves behind her faithful canine companions, Frankie and Betty, and her bird Blue.
Janet graduated from Hermitage High School in 1978 and attended Blue Ridge Community College where she received an Associate of Science Degree in Veterinary Medicine. She had a long career as a Veterinarian Technician and worked in Veterinary Clinics in Richmond, Ashland, Goochland and Virginia Beach.
Janet possessed a fondness for all animals great and small. In 1990 Janet appeared on America’s Funniest Home Videos and won third place for her cat Artemis who had a fondness for turning lights on and off during the middle of the night. Raised with horses, Janet learned to train and ride at an early age which brought her great joy and which she continued to enjoy most of her life. Janet’s many friends were her “chosen family” and all who knew her loved her sense of humor, “high-spirited” and adventurous nature, laughter, loyalty, and compassionate heart.
In Janet’s own words from a voice memo she left when she felt she may not make it, she said “Think of me often if you don’t mind, but with that smile on your face…try to spend as little time crying as possible…I had a good life…I hate to leave, I really do…I love all you guys…See ya!”
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held in the Spring.
