Janet Gail Thomas Edwards, of Yorktown, VA, a beautiful, gentle soul and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away at home on March27, 2024. She is survived by her devoted husband of more than 32 years, Jarvis M. Edwards; her son, Cael Edwards; her stepdaughters, Stephanie Beauvais and Jennifer Edwards; her grandchildren, Brianna and Savannah Beauvais; her brother, Brent Thomas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Thomas, Jr. and Jeanette Siceloff Thomas.

Janet was born on May 26, 1957, in Newport News, Virginia, and grew up there. She graduated from Menchville High School in 1975 and James Madison University in 1979, with a degree in Marketing. She was employed by Bayport Credit Union for more than 28 years, until the limitations brought on by her illness forced her to retire.

She was a lifelong and faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Newport News, where she sang in the choir for many years. She struggled with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis for more than 20 years, the second half of that time with a severity and level of suffering she did not deserve. She will be greatly missed. May she truly rest in peace.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 2pm at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newport News. Interment will follow in the Church columbarium.
