Jared Backus, age 38, passed away on September 21, 2024 (National Batman Day) in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born July 3, 1986 in Utica, NY to Patricia and John Backus. He was a proud resident of Virginia Beach and graduated from Salem High School in 2004.

He grew up in a very close and loving family and learned to truly appreciate those around him. His biggest passions in life included spending time with his family, anything Batman, and the Detroit Lions. He truly brought the life to the party and to know him was to love him. For some Jared could be such a light in this sometimes dark world. He touched the lives of so many people and would always make a point to help them in their time of need however he could. Anyone that knew Jared would know that his family meant everything to him. Jared always had the ability to make anyone smile with his entertaining stories and hilarious sense of humor. His smile always brightened up the room and he was always able to make anyone smile or laugh when they were having a bad day. He always had fun playing with his nieces and nephews and could turn any mundane activity into fun times to remember.

Jared had shared his life with his wonderful fiancé, Kelly Conner, and their two dogs named Bruce (Batman) and Selena (Catwoman). They were planning to be wed on 10/31/2025. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Backus; older brother John Backus and his wife Ashley Backus; nieces and nephews, Nadia, Rocco, Gianna, and Blake; many cousins and extended family. Jared will forever be loved and remembered. He has left a huge hole in the hearts of family and friends.

No services will take place, as Jared requested, but we do appreciate your love and support during this difficult time.
