Jeffrey C. Lane (aka Big Daddy, Gator Jeff) faced his final curtain, transitioning to his Great Gig In The Sky during the year’s most spectacular meteor shower in the early hours of Friday, December 15, 2023 at the age of 67.
Life In The Fast Lane for Jeff began on January 13, 1956 (Friday the 13th- his lucky day). Growing up in Houston, TX, graduating high school in 1975 from Montville High School, NJ, and receiving a degree in construction engineering from the State Technical Institute of Memphis in 1981. His proudest degree was graduating from DUI school in 1982 though!
Jeff’s career as a plastics broker started in Plano, TX, moving him to Chattanooga, TN and Lawrenceville, GA- never sitting still, always looking for a way to level up to better serve his family. Jeff loved football, dogs, music, dancing, the beach and partying with his friends and family!
Gone too soon, Jeff leaves a hole in the world tonight, survived by his mother, Claire Lane; his sister, Cyndy (Mike) McCrary; his 3 daughters- #1 Jessica (Nick) Harris, #2 Ashley (Dylan) Ramsey and #3 Connie Lane and his 3 grandchildren who lovingly knew him as Big Daddy- Luke & Troy Harris and Leo Carpou. Preceded in death by his father, Francis Brevoort Lane III.
Jeff will be on his permanent vacation, wasting away in Margaritaville in Southwest Florida where he loved most! You can find this earthbound misfit in the pelicans dancing above tequila sunrises or where the sun sinks down over the water in the Gulf of Mexico. In his memory, you can handwrite a letter to an old friend or family member enclosed with $1, listen to your favorite song as loud as you can and dance with someone you love!
A celebration of life will be held at his second home, The Lucky Oyster (2165 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach) on Saturday, January 13.
“Yes, there were times I’m sure you knew, when I bit off more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way!”
