Jenny Lynn Thompson Bell, 79, passed away on August 9, 2020 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born September 30, 1940 in Greensboro, NC, grew up in Greenville, NC, and lived in Virginia Beach since the mid 1980’s. Jenny is preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. and Virginia Kirkman Thompson.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kathy Bell Kennel (Phil); son Bobby Bell; grandchildren Hannah Kennel, Rachel Bell, Tate Kennel and Conner Bell; and her brother, Robert F. Thompson Jr. (June).

Jenny attended East Carolina Teachers College (now East Carolina University) where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She was seldom seen without her plum lipstick and earrings, loved giving people a nickname and talking on the phone (for hours) with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her little dog, Beau.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, especially Delinda Williams and Gail Sampson. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be expressed to the family at vacremationsociety.com.

I offer my sympathy to Jenny Lynn's family. As a child in Greenville, briefly, Jenny Lynn was my immediate neighbor. I took her to Junior and Senior High School Proms. She will be missed by many.

Bobby & Kathy, We were saddened to learn of the death of your mother! It has been a LONG time since we connected, but have pleasant memories of your family. Bobby spent many hours at our house & Jason at yours. There were several visits even after you moved to VA. Bobby, Jason now lives in Youngsville, NC, & works in the ministry. He has 6 children & 3 grandchildren!! Who would have guessed that we'd have 8 WONDERFUL grandchildren total!!! Take care & know we pray for your comfort & peace- Lynis & Carol Dohm

Kathy and Bobby, Joe and I send our most heartfelt condolences to you and your families. Your Mother was an awesome woman. I enjoyed many hours-long phone conversations with her. I will always remember her sweet disposition and her kindness. She was a lovely person who will be greatly missed. Love and sympathy to you and your families.

Jeff and I were so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. She was such a sweet person and close neighbor when she lived in Broad Bay Estates. She was always so fond of the neighborhood children and was always interested to hear about family and friends. She was genuine to the core and we will always have fond memories of her and both you and Bobby when you lived near us. God bless your families.
