Jo An Elizabeth Woodcock (Lisa), 83, passed away on March 1st 2025 in Newport News, Virginia.
A memorial will be held at Noon on April 12th 2025 at her home. The address is 115 Wedgewood Dr, Newport News, VA 23601.
Lisa was born in Waynesboro, VA to Artemis Josephus Fisher and Elsie Ford Koontz on November 25th 1941. She first married Robert Gene Smith and had two sons, John and Steven. She later married Dwight (Tom) Woodcock on November 9th 1974 in Hampton, VA. Despite not finishing high school, she worked as a cosmetologist, a candy striper/nurses aide, and later spent 10 years becoming an expert skip tracer for Montgomery Wards, earning several top awards during her tenure. Her second career lasted 17 years as a child support enforcer for the state of Virginia. She was excellent at finding the bums and making them pay. She was a compassionate soul who loved animals, particularly her chihuahua Jake. She loved dancing, music, and singing, though she couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket. She taught Sunday School along with Tom at New Covenant Church in Hampton, VA for many years, and was regarded fondly by the youth. She was a faithful servant of Christ in all of the areas of her life who gave of her time, talent, and treasure both financially and practically.
In addition to her sons John and Steven, she raised other children out of practical need and great love; Among them her step-daughter Tammie, her grandchildren Aaron and Joshua (now deceased), and her niece’s child Aubrey Lee. Her favorite place to be was in her garden, a full expression all of she loved: her country, her animals, her desire for a simpler time, the military, and her faith in Christ.
Lisa is preceded in death by her mother, father, and her older sister Mary. Lisa is survived by her husband Tom and his daughter Tammie; her oldest son John, grandson Aaron and his wife Taylor and great-granddaughter Graylin; second son Steven and his wife Cindy along with their children Anneliese with husband Jeremy and great-grandsons Acelyn and Seoirse, and second child Ian.
