Joan “Nana” Akers, born in West Orange, NJ, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was predeceased by her spouse of 61 years, Floyd A. Akers. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Frederick Akers (Deb), Sharon Burks Young, and Alexander Akers (Bobbie); plus, her 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

The Family will hold a Celebration of Life, Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 12 PM – 4 PM, at the family home, 984 Sunnyside Dr., Virginia Beach, VA, 23464.

Joan was and will always be a, part of the Naval Weather Service Association and its Hampton Roads Chapter. Her energy and planning during reunions, chapter events and meetings was a joy.
