Lana and JIm Ponsonby left a message on July 9, 2010:
I remember Joel as an HONORABLE MAN, a GOOD MAN, the true picture of a Christian Heart, always puting others first, giving his time, his services, his love, his kindness at every chance he could to help others. Even in his sickness, he was the hardest working individual I know. He built a wonderful business and made many friends along the way. My favorite memories are when we spoke of God and his beliefs and mine and how we shared the word of God, helping him to understand things surrounding being a Christian and taking that step of accepting Jesus into his heart so that he could one day see and KNOW with all of his heart that Jesus was there at that moment, as everyone said HE WAS SMILING at that moment of truth. Jesus met him and took him by the hand and he's dancing in heaven now, no pain, no sorrow, nothing but JOY and the most amazing LOVE anyone could ever imagine as he stands before Jesus thinking HOW GLAD he was that he believed and had faith. Special Thanks to Rev. Richardson who visited him in the hospital and spent hours sharing with Joel and Christ Gospel Church who prayed for him at many services, all holding him while we prayed for a little more time, borrowing him just a little longer so he could know how much we loved him! Special prayers and my heartfelt grattitude goes out to his Mother Betty and his Dad Charles, who were right there beside them through thick and thin in and around his business and family adventures for every moment of his life. And to Sheila, his wife, who stood by his side in his time of sickness, taking care of him, loving him and giving him that warmth that only a wife can offer. Joel, you are so lucky to be with the Lord, I am jealous, yet so incredibly Happy for you, and incredibly sad for the loss of your presence and your SMILE! Betty, I love you and look forward to seeing you in church! Sheila, you too! See you at the Celebration of Joel's Life, his memorial Saturday evening! Michelle, May God bless you and your girls and I pray that you too will learn the true love of our Lord,as he is the ONLY WAY to heaven, where your dad is and where you will later see him as long as you too give your heart to Jesus! I Love and Pray for you sweet girl!! Call if you ever need us: 757-201-4717, Lana and Jim Ponsonby
