John Dorsey, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on December 26, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Dorsey (Crisp), and his oldest son, John Dorsey, Jr. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Virginia Dorsey (Gaskill); sister, Julia Hobbs (Dorsey); brother, Bill Dorsey; daughter, Suzanne Doxey (Dorsey); son, Jason Dorsey, and his wife, Angie; daughter-in-law, Sherry Dorsey (Hale); 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

John, also known as Mike, worked hard and loved his family. He served 8 years in the Army and was a longshoreman for ILA Local 1970 for 35 years. He also had a love for antiques, especially Heisey Glass. He owned a pawn shop, which was another passion of his. His favorite sayings were, “Alright” and “Give me a cigarette”. He is finally at peace and flying high, fishing in Back Bay with his son, John, searching for “the big one”.
