John, son of Patrick and Eleanor, was raised in St. Louis with his brother Jimmy (deceased), and sisters Mary Pat Harmon and Eileen Clarke.
Happily married for sixty-five years, John and his wife Marilyn (deceased) raised eight children: Michael (deceased), Kelly McMillan, Eileen Kokosinski, Tim Dooley, Patsy Eikenbary, Elle Coleman, Margie Guzik, and Terry Dooley. In addition, he is survived by seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He proudly served in the US Navy for twenty-eight years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. After his retirement, he served as a Catholic lay minister in Prison Ministry and the Ministry to the Sick.
John leaves his family with a strong legacy of faith, love, and charity.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday July 22, 2022 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 712 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
