John Paul Jack Wintermoyer, Jr., 59 of 3814 Wyatt Drive, Portsmouth, VA passed away quietly in his home after a brief illness. He was employed with the Virginia Department of Transportation as a supervisor.

He was predeceased by his father, John P. Wintermoyer, Sr. and mother, Frances Brelsford Wintermoyer. He was born September 29, 1951 in Riverdale, Maryland. He was the beloved brother of three sisters, Nancy Kay Reed, Cape Girardeau, MO, Judy Bob Wolfe, Surfside Beach, SC, and Paulette Ron Gould, Berwyn Heights, MD and the proud uncle of a niece, Amanda Scott MacDougal and two nephews, John Sarah Reed and Dan Jenny Reed and their families.

An avid online spades, cribbage, and backgammon player, Jack dotmanva leaves behind a host of dear friends and loved ones including Beth Weatherly Blu, Nancy Effie, Hazel VS/GF, Peasy, Spunky, Testy, Femmy, and more. He was the proud “adopted” brother of John “Igor” Spitzer of Chiremanstown, Pennsylvania.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and nursing staff with Maryview Hospital and Bon Secours Hospice for the loving care and support shown to Jack and his family during this journey. Arrangements will be made by Cremation Society of Virginia, Virginia Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Bon Secours Hospice. My memories of Jack are without all wonderful ones. If someone said something out of line to me. He would immediately chew them out. He would always tell me he loved me. Being totally sincere. That man was what we call a real man and a gentleman. The laughs we all had were and always will be planted in my mind and heart. Jack will be missed more than he could ever possibly had known. My heart goes out to you Beth, I know he loved you so much and you were his rock. With Love Patty

What can I say about Jack. He was my friend. He could make me laugh when i didn't think I could. He always wanted to protect his friends. He was a very generous man. He will be truly missed and will never be forgotten. He was a friend, a teacher of life situations, family and friends were important to him. He was one of the smartest men I knew. Our time at the spades tables were golden, I will miss his little sayings when things were not going right. He always made the table more colorful and lively. Jack, you were one of my best friends and I love you for the time we had and I do believe I was blessed to know you as long as I did. :- Beth, he was lucky to have you as you were lucky to have him. I am sorry for your loss but the time you did share also makes you blessed. My condolences also go out to his family. I want you to know that Jack was loved all around the world. He was a special man.

Jack was a good friend to me and many others. So many that we became more than friends. We became a family. And, this family has been blessed to have Jack as one of our own. Beth, you were especially blessed. He picked you as his partner in life. We will miss Jack terribly. My heart goes out to you and his family. We have all lost someone truly special in Jack.

Hats off and ^5's to ya, Dot-man. Keep the beers cold. We'll all be seeing you soon enough.

For Jacks family. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a light that has been snuffed out way to early. Beth, I love you and I am so sorry for your loss. He was your soul mate and he loved you very much. No one could have made him smile brighter. Jack, I know that you are in a better place now but I will miss you terribly. You were a very good friend to me and all of our family in spades. So loving, so protective, so giving without asking anything in return. I learned a lot of new words from you and others and so my friend, here is what I said when Beth Blu informed us that you had passed. "SOB, grrrrrrrrrrrrr, OMG, it is just too soon for you to leave us". But trust me, you will not be forgotten. Love you my vs/bf, Hazel aka your vs/gf

My dearest Jack..AKA my "AMERICAN IDOL".. you were a true friend to me and a real blessing. I am very sad that you are no longer available to so many of us. Oh the laughs we shared.. so many topics we covered.. the funny insults.. I never did get to try your oatmeal cookies.. I miss you so very much. You left a huge smile on my heart. Please watch over us and save us a game of spades. Love you so much my dear Virginian. God has you in heaven but we will always have you in our hearts. Love you Jack xxxooo.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, his family, at this time. Though I only knew Jack for a short time, I knew that he was a man of integrity and a man of honor. He will be missed by everyone who was privileged to call him friend.
