A wonderful man whom I had a privilege of meeting through his wife Linda Mathias (my friend and flight instructor). He will be deeply missed by this soul until I see him on the otherside.
My sincere condolences. I did enjoy seeing you and Joe on the cruise 3 years ago. He was such
a nice person. You will be in my prayers.
As a member of the Quiet Birdmen hangar in Norfolk, may I say that we have lost a great aviator, gentleman and most of all, a friend. He will be missed by our group but never forgotten. Safe flight and smooth landing my friend. we have lost a great gentleman and aviator.
Dear Linda, I know you had wonderful times with Uncle Joe. I also have great memories with he and dad hanging out at the airport in my high school days and later. Uncle Joe taking me in a glider and doing a loop! Taking my first lessons in the Cub, flying the antique airplanes he built , having lunch every week with all the men. Following dad and Uncle Joe like a puppy and loving every minute of being a part of their airport fun. Going the EAA fly - ins ; such fond memories! I love you Uncle Joe- dad does too!!!
Linda, our condolences to you during this time. We have many fond memories of being at 99s and EAA events with you and Joe. May God give you strength as you face your loss.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Linda, The loss of our precious Joe is a sad thing and I am so sorry for you. We had some wonderful memories of reunions, fly-ins and visits. Closest to my heart is when you and Joe flew your C-180 in Johnny's missing man formation.I pray that Joe's final flight home was a smooth one. I'm sure Johnny "Redbird" was there to meet him. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
My heart breaks along with others concerning your loss. Joe was a remarkable man- a true patriarch. He will be missed among his fellow aviators and friends. It is with great sadness I send my deepest sympathy.
Linda, I am very sorry for your loss.
I flew my first trip as F/O with Joe, and many, many more for about 5 years. Joe helped me a great deal in becoming a professional pilot. Jim Hanson was there too.
Many memories to cherish & rember.
