“Art in Heaven” – Joseph Micheal “Joe” DeIulio, 89, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away in the comfort of his home on January 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife Rosetta, daughter Debra, son Danny, and grandson Elliot. Joe was born on July 8, 1935, to the late Joseph Micheal DeIulio and June Margaret Gropper, in Long Beach, California. As a young teenager, he moved to Hampton Roads, which he called home.
He was a dedicated artist whose career spanned over 70 years. Throughout his career, Joe was known for his vibrant acrylic paintings and mixed media works, often featuring expressive portraits and abstract compositions. His pieces have been showcased in numerous East Coast art galleries. For those wishing to view Joe’s artwork, Art Works in Richmond continues to exhibit his pieces, honoring his enduring impact on the art scene.
Beyond his artistic endeavors, Joe was known for his dedication to competitive weightlifting, his love of Turner Classic Movies, and his craving for sweets. Joe constantly reminded us never to take life too seriously. With his “joe” vial spirit and sense of humor, he made those around him feel loved, supported and included. He was a master storyteller full of laughter, quick wit, and big hugs. He said many times that his love of painting is what kept him around this long. He shared this passion with his children and his grandson, Elliot, who he adored. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and his beautiful art.
He leaves behind his wife Rosetta Clements DeIulio, who put up with his antics for 43 years; daughters, Debra DeIulio Hiebing (Andrew), Regina DeIulio, June DeIulio Dungca (Eliseo); sons, Brian DeIulio, Mike DeIulio, Danny DeIulio (Stephanie), and Scott McCloud (Caroline); brother, Don DeIulio (Jeanette); grandchildren, Elliot, Laura, Alex, Arya, Kenny, Juneli, Anthony, Michelle, Gianna, and Eva, and ten great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to family and friends who are family, that have been supportive throughout the years. Thanks to Riverside Hospice for making his transition seamless.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to honor Joe, make donations to their favorite charity in Joe’s name, paint a painting, or go out and enjoy an adventure out in the sun.
The Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to www.vacremationsociety.com.
