Joseph V. Allen
September 7, 1942 - May 11, 2022

Joseph V. Allen, 79, went to be with Jesus on May 11, 2021. Joe was born in Latrobe,
Pennsylvania to Joseph and Anne Allen. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the Navy and
later worked in HVAC for Johnson Controls and later retired from the Mariners Museum. He
loved reading and crosswords but most of all he truly loved all things involving the outdoors,
especially hunting and camping. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Nick Allen.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 39 years, Wendy; two sons, stepdaughter and
daughter-in-law, Joseph Allen, Jeffrey Allen, Dorie Blevins, and Marla Allen; three grandchildren,
Hannah Dolly, Andrew Forbes, and Madison Forbes; as well as one great granddaughter, Alana
Dolly; and his niece Dory Bledsoe; as well as numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces,
nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Urban Impact
Foundation at uifpgh.org.

Wendy, I am so sorry you and your family are rightfully grieving. Joe was a unique human being. He enjoyed socializing with his colleagues especially when he was given the correct answer to a crossword puzzle. I worked with him for 15 years until it was time for me to say goodbye. Joe was off the week I was to retire, but on my last day he came by to say goodbye. He also did some plumbing work for Mike and myself until his back gave him trouble.
