Joyce Munden Clark, 67, was called home to be with Jesus in the early morning of June 7th at her home in Norfolk. Joyce was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, and was preceded in death by her parents, Louise Wright Munden and Harold Munden also of Norfolk. She graduated from Granby High School in 1965 and received a degree in Mathematics from Mary Washington College in 1969.
Joyce had recently retired from Tidewater Community College in December of 2014. In her retirement, she took up watercolor painting and spending time with her beloved Boston Terriers, Bess and Sadie. Joyce was a lifetime and active member of Talbot Park Baptist Church in Norfolk.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 43 years, John Allan Clark, her two children, Charlotte Clark Montgomery and John H. Clark, and her son-in-law Brian Montgomery.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Talbot Park Baptist Church, 6919 Granby Street, Norfolk Virginia. At Joyce’s request and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network [1500 Rosecrans Ave, Ste. 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 www.pancan.org] or the Cancer Research Institute [One Exchange Plaza, 55 Broadway Ste. 1802, New York, NY 10006 www.cancerresearch.org] The Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements.

Allan, John, Charlotte & Brian...my friendship with Joyce goes back to the 80s when I came to Talbot Park Baptist Church. She introduced herself at a breakfast there and ask me to sit with her and her family. For all these years she has truly been the best friend I could ever have. We've had lunches, suppers, craft festivals, and a festival trip. She was such a good listener and always gave me encouragement. My heart is empty and sad, but my friend is in Heaven with Jesus and out of her pain. That brings me joy. I have a feeling that one of her beautiful watercolor paintings of some Heavenly scene is in progress this very moment. What a wonderful friend.
