VIRGINIA BEACH – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Anne Birdsong, who entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 7, 2026, at the age of 85.
Judith lived a life defined by love, kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she touched countless lives through her caring spirit and generous heart. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Throughout her life, Judith dedicated herself to caring for others. As a registered nurse, she compassionately served her patients and their families. Through her involvement in her church community and her faithful friendships, she continually sought ways to encourage and support those around her.
Above all else, Judith cherished her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and loved ones. The memories she created and the love she shared will remain treasured gifts to those she leaves behind.
Judith is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 65 years, Robert Birdsong; her children, Holly Pentecost, Leslie and Erick Smith, and Tracy and Greg Havens; her grandchildren, Ryan and Samantha Pentecost, Erin and Nik Hartnett, Samantha Smith, and Jess and Matthew Midgette; her great-grandchild, Marshall Pentecost; and her loyal pup, Rusty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse K. Holland, Jr. and Helen Holland; her brother, Donald Holland; and her son-in-law, Michael Pentecost.
She will be remembered for her love of flower gardening, her strong faith, generous heart, and the love she gave so freely. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the many cherished memories she leaves behind and in the assurance that she is now at peace with Jesus.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Forever loved, forever remembered, forever missed. We love you and look forward to seeing you again.
“He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”
Psalm 91:4 (NLT)
