June Price McLaughlin Strader, 78, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on October 30th, 2022 from natural causes. June was born on October 3, 1944 in Beckley, West Virginia to the late Andrew Wayte McLaughlin and Dorothy Alice Field McLaughlin. She graduated from Mary Baldwin College in 1966 where she earned a degree in sociology. Upon graduation she married John Floyd Strader, and they recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her husband, her children Andrew Hutton Strader (Mary Brenner) and John Hutton Strader (Laura Ann Strader), and her grandchildren Mary Price Strader, Eleanor Marie Strader, John Fenton Strader, Summer Graham Reich, and Savannah Abigail Reich as well as her sister, Alice Ann McLaughlin McKnight, and sister-in-law, Paula Jean McLaughlin, and beloved extended family.
June loved family, friends, and was devoted to God and His service. Her generous spirit was felt by all who knew her. She was grateful for her family and lifelong friends, including Lewisburg High School Class of ‘62, Mary Baldwin friends, and the friends during marriage and child raising especially those friends from First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, where she was a member for over forty years. She taught Sunday school and bible school for years and was happiest when all of her grandchildren attended with her.
After college, June taught elementary school and was a fundraiser as her second career. Both careers she approached with enthusiasm and dedication. June’s great love of family and desire for unity permeated her being. She loved unconditionally.
