June Marie McPherson Wainwright, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2023, in her Chambrel home in Williamsburg, Virginia. She had celebrated her ninety-fifth birthday a week before her death. Chambrel (Brookdale, presently) had been her home for 27 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Wainwright, in 1979.
Born in Washington, D.C., the McPherson’s moved to Buffalo, NY when June was a child. Later, in 1966, Charles and June moved from Buffalo, NY to Vienna, Virginia to become part of the newly formed American Symphony Orchestra League. Later, June became the personal secretary to Jouett Shouse, who created Wolf Trap Farm Park in Vienna, VA. She loved her work. After retiring, June and her mother, Gladys McPherson, moved to Williamsburg, where she became an active member of the Chambrel Retirement Community. June is survived by her daughter, Charlotte W. Niemeyer, four grandchildren; Travis, Sarah, Michael and James and six great grandchildren; Braden, Chase, Penelope, Reed, Timothy and Olive.
A private burial will take place in Pelham, Ontario, Canada.
