I am so sorry to hear about Vijaya's passing. He was a great docotr and teacher to me back in 2011-2013. I came back to Hampton Roads this summer and have been trying to find him for an appointment for months. I finally came across this obituary and am very sad that he is no longer with us, but I know he is blissfully enjoying a place in nirvana. Thank you for the wonderful post and bless you.
It's an incredibly amazing post about J.W. "Vijaya" Stallings.
Basically, this subject matter stressed me for a time and so i couldn't discover anything good info about it.
That is definitely hwy I'm really grateful, you helped me a whole lot! http://stanford.io/2jwUk1B
Stacy, I never really got to know your father, just met him briefly one time but heard you talk about him many times. He always sounded like he was full of life, traveling, helping people and enjoying life. What a great example to all of us! I know you are missing him greatly, but know he has left his mark in this world to make it a better place. You will always have all his memories with you and no one can take that away. He will aways be with you in that way! God bless you and your family.
Stacy, our deepest sympathies go out to you and your entire family. Vijaya was a great guy and he will be missed!
Stacy and family, my deepest condolences at the loss of your dad. You were blessed to have such a wonderful man with whom you could share your life, your family and your dreams. All the great memories you have of your father will help soothe the loss. My love and prayers for your peace and comfort.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
J. W. and I were classmates and friends at Warwick High School. I have such fond, fun memories of him and I am so sorry for your loss.
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that the memories you surely have of him will bring you peace.
Sincerely,
Jane Eadie
Deepest condolences for your loss. Although I didn't have the pleasure of knowing J.W., have heard many good things about him through his sister, Gloria, a dear friend. May your memories be vivid and peaceful reminders of times of love and joy.
Vijaya was a very special friend who truly found his purpose in life when he found Ayurveda. He helped so many on his journey through this life, including me. He will be missed by countless people he has touched.
I knew J.W. for a short time in the early 1950's when he and Gloria and their parents lived with his grandmother on Warwick Boulevard, just behind my parents' and my home on Botetourt Road. I was only a little kid and he was three years my elder, but I recall his being a nice guy. Three years is a lot of difference for kids, so our paths diverged and I never really knew him again through his life, though I saw his mother and father often, and through them I would hear about him. But I never heard about his personal journey in his later years. It appears he came to enjoy his life very much and felt fulfilled in it, and I am happy for him in that. I'm sorry that he had to leave it, and us, so early.
Stacey and family, so sorry to hear about Vijaya. He was an inspiration to many students at the Life Enrichment Center and literally touched many people's lives.
I am fortunate to have been one of the first people that he met when he came back to N.N. back in 1995. He came to the Life Enrichment Center for massage and we quickly clicked because, I also knew "Amma" or Ammachi. We worked together, taught classes together, gave tandem massage together. he would substitute my yoga classes sometimes and the women students really enjoyed having a male teacher! I actually met you at that time also.
He touched many lives and I am sure you will hear lots and lots of stories about him.
What a wonderful Daddy! and Grandpa and brother. he will be missed bunches.
We have lost a good man with a very good heart.
VJ always imparted some solid wisdom & ideas on not only what to eat & herbs to use but also just wonderful tips on living life. I will carry his calm and loving presence with me always.
What a shock to hear of J.W.'s passing. My heart goes out to Gloria and Stan. J.W. and I were "good buddies" from age 9 through high school and I spent many hours at his home and he at mine. Will always remember him as a great friend and I am sorry to lose a man who brought so much peace, love and humor to those lucky enough to know him.
Gloria, Stan and family,
I remember J. W. getting ready for a date as Gloria and I advised him what to wear. He was always a kind and gentle person. He has had an influence on so many. May your memories bring you peace.
I knew J.W. in High School and always thought he was a great guy. Even though we were both Air Force Officers our paths never crossed after High School. I am confident he carried his caring ways and leadership into his adult years. My heartfelt condolences go to his family and to J.W., I am glad we knew each other in High School fellow veteran - rest in peace.
Gloria, WE were regretful to hear of the passing of J.W. and please accept our condolences. Doug and Joan.

Such a precious kind loving generous brother and Ally to me. We first met at at the Himalayan Fair at the Live Oak Park in Berkeley in 1997 and have been trusted allies and colleagues since. We also spent wonderful quality time together at Rishikesh at the Rishikesh College of Ayurveda in 1999. I will miss him in this physical world but he will always be in my heart
Vijay’s name brings a smile, such a pleasant, modest, gentle being. I am so glad that I came to know VJ. I will miss him.
We hope that difficult times are made more beareable by the knowledge that old friends are reliving memories and thinking of those who must endure the loss of JW
I will miss all the potlucks he used to organize in the Hampton Roads area. Each of us were urged to bring healthy dishes. The camaraderie was great, especially the talk Vijaya would give in the end. I met many spiritual people during these get-togethers. I believe he is now planning the next one in heaven.
Vijaya was a steady force and a positive agent of change in so many lives, he will be sorely missed by a multitude of people including those in the Amma community with whom he shared so much love.
I was a practice subject for a class Vijaya was teaching, and then had one appointment with him, always thinking I would get back for another one sometime...
His seemed a life lived fully and well and I took away a lot just from that meeting. What a generous, open, and present soul.
Thank you to his family for sharing this time with the rest of us so thoughtfully. I have really appreciated everything you have shared at this time or in the future and even learned from you, that he went to high school within walking distance of where I grew up, which now feels like an honor!
I met Vijaya for the first time and decided to travel with him to India that very night without any reservations. I later learned of his many accomplishments and extensive knowledge of "life". What a treasure he was to me! I learned so much from him. I am so glad I took that leap of faith 3 years ago and trusted my heart. I will miss you Vijaya. Every time I go to Elwood Thompson I think of you my friend. Peace....
Jay was a friend for sixty years starting in grade school. Memories of backyard hoops, double-dates, football practices/games are vivid. Sad to hear that a life dedicated largely to healthy, holistic life choices in later years ended as it did. Thoughts and prayers from Peggy and Les are with the family.
I just heard about VJs passing. He leaves a hole in our hearts as we have lost a good friend, a teacher and a gentle soul. He will be missed greatly.

I extend my condolences to the family.
Vijaya was such a wonderful friend. I am still in disbelief of his passing. I am currently reading his book. Much love and blessings to all his family and friends.
Vijaya was a successful in the truest sense of the word. He earned the love, gratitude, and respect from all who were honored to know him. What a loss for us; heaven has gained his special soul. Thank you Vijaya.
You'll be deeply missed.
Vijaya:
Was my professor at JFK University and a very good friend for the past 20 years. He is very dear to my heart and I will remember him always.
GodBless,
Hanada
Such a lovely spirit, with never-ending kindness, whether during workshops or private counsel.
To think of Vijay is to smile, and it warms my heart to read, in both guestbooks, that so many others have been similarly touched.
I will never forget you Vijay.
Namaste,
Dee
Gloria and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of grief. You should be very proud of J. W. It certainly sounds like he was an extremely giving and caring individual. God Bless all of you in your loss.
Vijaya was one of my beloved Ayurveda teachers. He held what we students affectionately called "Ayurveda Bootcamp". He was a brilliant man with a huge love of life. I'll never forget doing pulse readings with him at the Berkeley Himalayan Fair...in the pouring rain. It was an Ayurveda Woodstock! But the mud and rain couldn't dampen his loving spirit.
So sorry for your loss. I'm glad to have had the pleasure to know Vijaya and spend time with him. He will be missed.
I met Vijaya at his office in Norfolk after finding him online. around 2006 or 2007 He was a great healer and teacher for me and many others. Our last meeting I cried in his arms, and he held me murmuring gentle, and kind words of love. He made himself available via phone always if I needed him. He taught me to be gentle with myself. Vijaya also taught so many of us about the wonders of Ayurveda, and a peaceful diet. He is already greatly missed, but his spirit is ever with us. Om Shanti Vijaya. My heart and love goes to his family. Jai Ma!
The warmest most accepting hug I have ever received from anyone was from your dad...it was on the sideline of a football game as we watched our kids play football a number of years ago. I needed that hug more than I could have ever communicated to anyone in words...but he knew in my spirit. and I felt his tenderness in return. He was always very accepting of our family and all the crazy that we brought with us. But the result is loving memories.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Stacy in reading this impressive obituary, I'm convinced that your dad had a huge impact while here. It's just a shame that he could not have remained longer to continue his good work. We love you and wish you comfort.
Your dad sounded like a wonderful man Stacy & I'm sorry I never had the pleasure of meeting him. I'm sure his spirit will always live on in you, his friends & everyone's life he touched. Peace & love to you & your family.
Stacy, our deepest sympathies go out to you and your entire family. Vijaya was a great guy and he will be missed!
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family's loss.
