Karen Kay Kimmons
Chesapeake – – Karen Kay Kimmons, 52, of the 1300 block of Kay Avenue,
passed away on May 28, 2010. Karen was predeceased by her parents,
Victor H. and Mary J. Kimmons, and a brother, Patrick C. Kimmons.
Kenneth Kimmons of Chesapeake and William Kimmons of Round Lake
Beach, IL are Karens surviving brothers. Vickie Kimmons of Chesapeake,
Karens sister, also survives her.
Karen was a 1979 graduate of Kirk-Cone Rehabilitation Center. The Chesapeake Community Services Board provided day support and prevocational training. Karen worked for Chesapeake Service Systems, Inc. Employment sites included the Chesapeake Vocational Center, Hilti Corporation, and Mitsubishi Chemical America. Karen retired in 2000 due to poor health.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to all of the professionals who cared for Karen. Dr. David J. West, the other physicians in the practice, and the staff of Chesapeake Internists worked very hard to meet Karens medical needs. The staff of Chesapeake Regional Medical Center provided intensive and compassionate care on many occasions. Sentara Home Care delivered excellent home health services and Heartland Home Health Care provided in home support. Pastor Jerry Kilyk and the members of Rosemont Christian Church worked tirelessly to meet Karens spiritual needs and to support the family.
One of Karens physicians said that Karens job was to spread joy. Karen worked hard and was very successful. It is time for her to rest now.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 1:00p.m. at
Rosemont Christian Church which is located at 3505 Bainbridge Boulevard
Chesapeake, VA 23324. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation 736 North Battlefield
Boulevard Chesapeake, VA 23320.
