Kate Patterson Gunter passed away on February 22, 2025. A spirited and devoted individual, she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. A graduate of Bayside High School in Virginia Beach, Kate was known for her tireless work ethic and her passion for working with her hands. Her love of refinishing boats blossomed into a successful business, reflecting her determination and skill.

From an early age, Kate enjoyed spending time outdoors, often joining her father in fishing and hunting adventures. She was never one to shy away from hard work and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her spunky and feisty nature will always be remembered by all who knew her.

Above all else, Kate treasured her family, especially her beloved son, Frank Williams IV. She is survived by her parents, Lester and Mary Gunter; her sisters, Jessica Bayer and her husband, Martin of Indiana, and Cindy Sanders and her husband, John of North Carolina; as well as Frank’s grandfather, Pop Pop Williams, and great grandfather, Williams.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Kate’s memory and the impact she made on those around her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.

my deepest condolences to the family and her ol man it is a terrible and unexpected loss I hope she finds good rest for her soul now so forever live on in my memory as she will in others.

We are so sad to learn of Kate’s passing. We first met Kate at our marina, when she was doing her beautiful varnish work. She , of course, was always so gracious and willing to help out , us amateur varnishers with her tips and tricks. We have so many memories of great visits with her on the dock, and she loved sharing stories about Frank Jr, of whom she was so proud. She was truly a kind , lovely lady and will be missed by so many of us.

Katie was such a wonderful cousin and was always different in her own way which was a good thing! I looked up to her a lot growing up and will miss her terribly. Deepest condolences to our family and her friends for this loss. We will always miss you but this isn’t good bye, it’s just see you later. I know you are at peace. Love you Katie 💞🥰

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family for the loss. I will always remember how Kate could light up a room just with her smile and always positive attitude. I can't remember a time that she was not smiling. I had the privilege of helping her out with her work every now and again and being able to call her my friend. The world has truly lost a beautiful person. Even though life paths have lead us into different directions and had lost contact for a while I think of her from time to time. I will always remember her with a smile on her face and being a very driven person and having fun going through life.

Katie, there are no words adequate! You were known around this marina for many, many years. We will all miss your smile, your laughter, your presence. R.I.P. May you and your family find peace.

Words can not express how much you will be missed. Your were not just a friend to me you were my family. I will cherish our talks, the laughs we shared and showing the boys what a quarter stick of dynamite can do. I know you, my Dad and John are all fishing and hunting together, show them how it's done. I love you with all my heart rest in paradise my friend.

Kate, I have no words to express to you and your family. When I heard the news I was dumbfounded. You were like a little sister to me and I so wish I could have done more. We shared some fun times and some sad ones. I hope your soul finds peace. My heart hurts for you son and your family. See you on the other side.

Katie, so many of my childhood memories have you in them. From exploring the lake behind our houses, eating venison for the first time, memorizing the periodic table together, accidents to erasing your computer, to rushing you to the ER because you sliced your hand open on glass in a dumpster. I only wish we could’ve spent time together as adults. Sending all the love to your family in this difficult time. You will always have a place in my heart.

I'll miss you dearly Kate. we've pretty much grew together. thank you for all your time and love. Continued love and prayers for little Frank and your family.
